Ask The Player – Nathan Hicks

The Social Media Team at the club have introduced a new feature for the Club Twitter Account, with a regular “Ask The Player” Q&A session with one of the Diamonds First Team.

On 10th May 2020, Nathan Hicks agreed to be the fourth player to take part.

If you don’t have access to social media, or missed the session, here are the Questions and Responses in full.

Question – Stewart Greenway : What was it that attracted you to singing for AFC R&D?

Answer : Heard great things about Peaksy and the togetherness with the lads. And the fan base behind the club is second to none, One of the best set of fans in Non League.

Question – Hayden Pott : Which player do you like to wind up the most? As a teammate and an opponent?

Answer – Has to be Ben Acquaye, everything he does is so questionable and gets hammered all the time for it. The Tamworth fixture is one I look forward to, I know a few of the boys there so we always have a bit of banter on the pitch.

Question – Phil Jenkins : Who’s going to be the nominated penalty taker next year?

Answer – I’m definitely back on penalties next year, I got a lot of stick from the one I missed at Alvechurch but I am blaming the pitch for that one.

Question – Jim Playle : What has been your personal outstanding moment in a Diamonds shirt and also your biggest disappointment?

Answer – Have to say one of the worst games would be this season at home to Stratford, terrible conditions and I couldn’t even pass the ball 5 yards, I kept looking to Peaksy to take me off. Leiston away was up there with the best games in a Diamonds shirt.

Question – Jim Playle : Have you tried one of H’s Diamonds burgers and can you rate H’s food out of 10? My personal rating is 11/10 but I don’t want to influence you.

Answer – The big man always looks after me once the game is finished. I have to say that they are on the best burgers I’ve ever had. So if anyone is yet to try them, I would advise at the next game, 15/10.

Question – Jim Playle : How did it feeling to score against Kettering and did you, as a player understand the pure passion and sense of feeling so many fans have about “them”?

Answer – Before the game I didn’t know how I would react if I would score but when your in the moment, the emotions take over as you could see from the celebrations. I know a few of the boys there still so it was good to have banter with them.

Question – Joseph McCormack : What so you feel was your best performance in an AFCRD shirt?

Answer – Tamworth away last season I would say and I think I got the equaliser that I can’t remember.

Question – Richard : The goal against Yaxley, how far you claiming it was now and did the shin pad survive?

Answer –  Definitely one of the longest strikes of the ball I have hit, I heard a lot of the fans saying it was a good 40 yards out and who am I to argue with the best set of fans in Non League.

Question – Wayne : If you could go back and replay one game from your football career, what would it be and why?

Answer – I am going to say Bromsgrove, It was certainly one of the worst games I have been involved in at home this season. But seemingly as the season has been null and void, I’m guessing it didn’t happen right?

This is one of a series of “Ask The Player” Twitter Sessions – you can find the others under the Player News heading.
