Following an alleged incident on Saturday 5th April after the United Counties League Premier Division fixture against Spalding United, the club launched an investigation which included taking statements from those involved and witnesses.

The investigation concluded that, due to the seriousness of the incident, strong action is warranted by the club. Following consultation with Northamptonshire Police, the club has banned a supporter of the club from all AFC R&D home matches for a period of three years. The supporter has been informed of the club’s decision.

The club would like to place on record our sincere apologies to Spalding United and their manager Pat Rayment.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds is a community-owned, community-run club and we have worked very hard since our inception to build a friendly atmosphere at matches. Incidents such as the one which took place on April 5th have no place at AFC R&D matches, and the club will continue to act quickly and decisively to punish offenders as is deemed appropriate. We will also continue to build on our strong links with Northamptonshire Police, who have our full support and co-operation in investigating breaches of the law and, if necessary, bringing charges against those responsible when appropriate.

We would like to thank Northamptonshire Police, supporters and officials who provided assistance with the investigation.
