Dale Roberts Memorial Fund News

All AFC Rushden & Diamonds fans will be interested to hear of the latest fundraising initiative for the Dale Roberts Memorial Fund. On 5th April 2014, Dale’s mother Isabel Roberts will brave the “Zip Wear Challenge” by riding on a Zip wire from the roof of the Stadium of Light in Sunderland across the River Wear. She will travel a distance of around 250 metres at up to 25 miles per hour above the city streets and the river.

The Dale Roberts Memorial fund is a fund set up by George and Isabel Roberts to help worthy causes that Dale held dear to his heart. These include providing Christmas presents to children in a local hospital and helping youngsters off the streets and into football. The fund also helps people that find themselves in a similar situation to Dale.

The Zip Wear Challenge event also raises funds for The Foundation of Light and the North East Autism Society, with over 150 people expected to take part in the fundraising challenge for those two charities.

More details of how fans might sponsor Isabel or make donations direct to the Dale Roberts Memorial Fund will be provided as soon as they are confirmed, but we are sure all Diamonds fans will wish to send her their best wishes for taking part in such a challenge – and their admiration for her bravery.
