AFC Rushden & Diamonds have signed Darren Purse on a dual registration with Staines Town.

Darren, who manages the AFC R&D/MAA U18 side, has signed on in order to provide defensive cover for the remainder of the season.

Purse started his career at Leyton Orient, before going on to play in the football league for Oxford United, Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion, Cardiff City, Sheffield Wednesday, and Millwall amongst others.

Manager Andy Peaks told afcdiamonds.com “Darren’s main priority is obviously with Staines Town, however with the transfer window closing at the end of the month I felt it was prudent to have some cover should it be required between then and the end of the season. Darren knows the lads as he has been around at times when we have trained throughout the season and would have no problem slotting in should the need arise.”
