AFC Rushden & Diamonds are delighted to announce the loan signing of Fabio Lopes from Oxford United.

Lopes is a forward player who grew up in Lisbon and moved to Bicester in 2015. He started out with Brackley Town and the subsequently joined Oxford United as a scholar. In January 2019 he was rewarded with a 2 and a half year professional contract. He is aged 18.

During this season Fabio has featured for the Oxford United First Team in FA Cup and EFL Cup fixtures, and manager Karl Robinson believes he will make it at the top level in football. His profile on the Oxford United website is here.

Manager Andy Peaks said “Fabio is a really exciting player and I am delighted he is joining us. We showed last season how well we can work with professional clubs – these young talented players can come in and improve our squad, and we can assist in developing them as players by exposing them to men’s football.”

It is thought the paperwork will be completed for Fabio to be available for Saturday’s fixture against Tamworth.
