The Elite Squad started their preseason work with a visit to Lilleshall National Sports Centre. The day provided the squad with opportunity to work together for the first time as a group and with the new management team of Howard Willmott and Richard Maxwell.

The work out in the rolling countryside of Shropshire proved to be a great success for the squad. “The day was a really important part of getting the key messages into the players about the culture and hard work that will be required for this squad to be a success.” commented Howard “We had a double training session, a presentation and enjoyed the first class facilities and pitches at the Lilleshall centre. The most important thing was that the players understood the messages and brought into how we will work. To a man, the serious attitude and work ethic was fantastic so we can look forward to the season where we can focus on progress week in week out with some good characters all motivated to becoming successful players at this club.”

“The only disappointment was that it was just a day, but the tone has been set for the squad and the foundation for a good season has been laid.”

The Elite squad will begin their campaign in the Midland Football League U21 East Division at home on August 19th 2017 against Tamworth U21, kick off at 10.30am. Home games are played at Islip Playing Fields and all supporters are welcome.
