Saturday 13th May saw the first-ever Academy Day at Hayden Road.
Players from across our Academy age groups attended and enjoyed the experience of playing on the pitch and using the first team facilities.
Diamonds fans who were able to attend, will have seen the level of commitment, professionalism and talent on display.
AFCRD Academy would like to express our thanks to the opposition Clubs and coaches who brought teams, some travelling long distances to take part in the day. Thank you to Northampton Fundamental, Hednesford Town and Holbeach.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to the Club Board and volunteers who helped make the day possible by opening Dale’s Bar and Club Shop, running the raffle. Special thanks to Darren Bolland.
Starting at 9:00 am our Pre-academy, made up of players aged from the Under 7s to Under 11s teams, played non-competitive games and completed drills.
From 10:00 am the Diamonds Under 12s played a match against Northampton Fundamental Football, with the game finishing 2-4.
Next up, our Under 13s played Hednesford Town Academy winning an impressive 8-0.
The Under 14s then played Holbeach United, winning 2-0 and finally the Under 15s, also playing a Holbeach Academy side, won 3-0.
