As the season is drawing to a close only two teams were in league action this week…
Histon F.C. U12s 1 v 5 AFC Rushden & Diamonds U12s
Played at Hinchingbrooke, Huntingdon.
This was the final meeting between these sides for this season and produced another win for Diamonds, but more importantly the game was played in the right spirit and yet another great advert for the Junior Premier League. Several players put in very solid performances, building from the back to produce a fine 5-1 win. Will Jones’ clinical display in front of goal helped him return with 4 goals.

Coventry F.C. U13s 7 v 0 AFC Rushden & Diamonds U13s
Played at Central Ajax F.C., Warwick.
We travelled to Ajax Central to face Coventry. With illness, unavailability and injury we travelled with 11 available players. U12s players, Charlie Pearson and Thomas Walton, deserve a special mention as both were a credit to themselves.
The first period saw both sides make a bright start although the weather made it difficult for both sides with high winds and driving rain. Diamonds looked to be organised and delay and deny Coventry space in our third and then look to counter. For the first 20 minutes Diamonds did this well and created the best chances after some good play from Robbie Meadows, Charlie Pearson and Taran Dhaliwal saw the ball run across the goalline. Callum Newton picked the ball up and again caused the Coventry defence problems. End of first period 0-0.
Coventry made a few changes for the second period and pressed higher and although Diamonds defended well Harrison Burley twice finished in an otherwise quite even quarter to put Coventry 2-0 up.
The third period Diamonds lost their shape in midfield and chased the ball a little too much. Coventry took complete control and exploited the gaps in the middle areas and really dominated. The Diamonds back four were under a lot of pressure and although Dan Edwards made some fine saves he could do little to prevent Coventry adding to the tally with George Redshaw, Callum Stewart and Mikkel Boone making it 5-0.
Diamonds regrouped at the break and regained their shape, with the lack of substitutes they battled on and showed character in the last 20 minutes and stemmed the tide. The midfield regained their shape and Robbie Meadows worked hard on and off the ball. Coventry did manage to get another two well worked goals with Robbie Sone and Patrick Zito making the final scoreline 7-0.
We wish Coventry all the best for the remainder of their season.
