Here are the match summaries for each of our Academy teams from last weekend…
W.B.A. Colts U12s 5 v 2 AFC Rushden & Diamonds U12s
Played at the Tally Ho Sports Centre, Birmingham
WBA started the brighter team, take the lead early on, only for Diamonds to spark into life and equalize before the end of the 1st period. The 2nd and 3rd periods were dominated by WBA applying lots of pressure and scoring 2 goals in each period to take a 5-1 lead going into the last quarter. A fine free kick and some much better football saw Diamonds get a consolation goal from an overall below par performance.

Solihull Moors F.C. U13s 4 v 0 AFC Rushden & Diamonds U13s
Played at Warwickshire College, Henley-In-Arden
This game was played on a full size pitch and Sol Moors used the space well and had the lion share of the ball throughout this encounter. The first two periods saw no goals and some great defending and shape from Diamonds as Sol Moors really kept the pressure on and created a number of good opportunities.
The deadlock was broken in the 3rd period when a cross/shot went in and our heads went down briefly after holding out for so long. The goals then came thick and fast over a 10-15 minute period while Diamonds tried to regain their shape and composure. End of the period 4-0.
The last period was all about attitude and the boys did themselves credit and created some good opportunities in the final period but could not get on the score sheet.

Played at Warwickshire College, Henley-In-Arden
The hosts took an early league with good football being played by both sides, adding a 2nd goal in the next period, before Diamonds dragged themselves into the game creating some good chances, adding their opener before half-time. The 3rd period ended in stalemate, before the final period brought the game to life. With 10 minutes remaining, Diamonds pulled one back to make the score line 2-3, pushing for an equalizer, but Solihull finished the game off with a long range effort. A good standard game throughout.
