Match Report for Northamptonshire Disability Football League by player Ryan Sheridan
Saturday 19th May 10am-12pm
Venue was the Wellingborough Grammarians Sports Field
6 teams competed in 15 minute games based on league table system result. The final was 15 minutes, then penalties if draw result.
The boys played extremely well in the all games, winning their first game 2-0 against Dunstable. The second game was the same score line 2-0 against Kettering Town, The third game was a close matched game against Northampton and the final result was 0-0. The fourth match against Wellingborough OG was also a tough match and ended in a draw 0-0.
The fifth match was against Netherton and was our last match – the end result was a draw 0-0, which lead to South Rushden Stars winning the League table and progressing into a final community match between the first and second place teams in the league table.
The final saw our team South Rushden Stars against Wellingborough OG. After an even start with chances for both teams, the result in was a draw 1-1. It was all down to penalties for the final outcome where Wellingborough outclassed South Rushden Stars 3 -1 on penalties to win the community match.
At the end of the Tournament there was a presentation with certificates for all players taking part in the day’s festival, plus there was a fair play respect award for the second time for all tournaments. Well done to Dunstable for their achievement.
The FA are holding England Talent days across the country this coming summer and the potential of the next England disability star for boys and girls aged 7-11 and 12-16.

South Rushden Stars have been approached by the FA Development Officer, for several of our children to attend the event. We would like to wish them good luck on the upcoming talent day and progressing forward for a England place.
