AFC R&D Strengthen Back Room Team

AFC Rushden & Diamonds are delighted to announce two new additions to the club’s back room staff.

Mark Walsh has been appointed Under 18’s Manager and will also manage the Under 11’s Academy team.

Mark is currently the manager and head coach at MK College Academy during the daytime, is in the process of completing a sports coaching degree at Loughborough University and holds a UEFA B coaching badge.

afcdiamonds.com caught up with Mark after his first training session with the under 18’s:“I’m very excited about the challenge, it is a fantastic opportunity for me and it was great to meet the team for the first time. They are a tight knit group, they train very well and enjoy themselves which is important.” Mark added “Mark Starmer did a great job with them last season and I am looking to continue where he left off and develop the players so that they can be integrated within the first team.”.

The club would also like to welcome Scott Carlin who joins as First Team Coach after leaving his post as Assistant Manager at Northampton Spencer. Scott, or Biff as he’s more commonly known, brings a wealth of experience having worked with AFC R&D Assistant Andy Peaks over the last few seasons.

afcdiamonds.com spoke with Biff at the recent trials and asked him about his appointment. “I am delighted to be joining the club, it’s great to be involved in the rebuilding from the start of such a great club.”
