During May AFC Rushden & Diamonds has been part of Waitrose Community Matters Initiative.
Three good causes receive a share of £1,000 every month from the Waitrose Community Matters initiative. The charities and community groups are selected by nominations from customer and Waitrose employees.
Customers shopping in store are given a green token in which they can vote for which of that month’s three charities they want to receive the donation by placing the token in one of three Perspex tubes. At the end of the month the cash is divided up in proportion to the number of tokens a charity has received.
Part of the money raised will go towards a new club initiative is to start a Walking Football programme for the over 50s later this year. This is a unique fitness and health and well being programme for this area.
With the addition of Walking Football we will take another step in our aim to provide Football for All, Football for Life.
To raise money for the club’s new initiative, and if you feel able, please support the Waitrose Community Matters Initiative until the end of May.
