What a way to start Pre-season although the result got away from us the end result is that AFCR&D Ladies are here and ready to play, with a great effort the ladies secured the lead within the first 25mins with a great piece of combination play between Kelly Rust and Cat Sealey, culminating in Cat slotting the First ever AFC Ladies goal past the keeper with ease. The ladies took hold of the game and it wasn’t until the 43rd Minute that Raunds drew level to take the game 1-1 at Half Time.

As the second half began Diamonds once again began to dominate but with Raunds Coming out after the second half looking more determined and ruthless, the advantage started to gain in their favor and in the last 20 mins of the game the Raunds Ladies took control of a battling Diamonds to net 3 goals in the space of 10 mins to take the game away from the ladies team.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds Ladies can tonight hold their heads up high and look forward to a season filled with promise and good fortune as they proved for 75 mins against a team 2 divisions higher that they are here to compete, Cause upsets and win some silverware along the way, the road will be long but if AFC Ladies can play like they did for most of today with out injury or tiring they will succeed.
