AFC Rushden & Diamonds Take Part in World Book Night

Tuesday 23rd April marks World Book Night, an initiative to encourage people to rediscover or continue their love of books.

During World Book Night a million books will be given away for free in a series of events big and small all over the country. At the heart of this giveaway are 20,000 volunteers who give specially chosen and printed books in their community to spread a passion for reading.

Head of Community Football David Cockings is one of these givers, David explained his involvement.

“This is the third year of World Book Night and the third year that I have been involved. I have previously given books out in my son’s school, and to friends and work colleagues. I was looking to do something different for 2013 and when the Eynesbury game was rearranged it seemed like an ideal opportunity.

“There is no catch, the books are free and receivers are free to do what they like with the book, they can either pass it on to someone else to enjoy or keep it for themselves.

“I shall be around the ground before the kick-off and anyone who would like a book is quite welcome to collect one”
