AFC Rushden & Diamonds v Bedford Town
With a week to go before the start of the UCL Premier Season, AFC Rushden & Diamonds will face Bedford Town in a preseason friendly on Saturday.
Although their results in preseason games may not indicate it, the Diamonds have made good use of this period to integrate their five new signings as well as trying out different formations and roles.
Admission prices for the Diamonds pre-season friendlies at the Dog & Duck are £4 adults and £2 Concessions.
Both Diamonds and Wellingborough Town volunteers have been working on various improvements to the Dog & Duck over the close season – for details see here.
Our Opponents
Bedford Town play in the Southern League Premier Division, which is a Step 3 league two levels above the UCL Premier. They are undergoing a period of transition, with a new manager, Lee Bearman, at the helm.
They have had an impressive preseason campaign, with a midweek 4-2 win over Stevenage following a draw against a Peterborough XI and a creditable performance against a Stoke City U21 side.
Last season they finished in mid-table in their league. Ex-R&DFC youth team player Jerry Nash joined them from Luton Town in the summer.
