AFC Rushden & Diamonds v Boston Town
AFC Rushden & Diamonds will hope to kick off 2014 at the third attempt by hosting Boston Town on Saturday 11th January at the Dog & Duck in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division.
Following a 9:30am inspection by a local referee, the Dog & Duck pitch has been given the all-clear, so, providing there are no further weather issues, and subject to the final agreement of the match referee on his arrival, this afternoon’s game will go ahead.
The two sides met in Lincolnshire shortly before Christmas, with the Diamonds suffering a frustrating afternoon as they lost 2-1 – report here.

Our Opponents
Boston Town Football Club was established as Boston FC in 1964 and began life in the Lincolnshire League, before playing in various leagues including the Central Alliance, Eastern Counties League, Midland League / Northern Counties East League and Central Midlands League before joining the UCL Premier in 1991. They reached the semi-final of the FA Vase in 1993-94, and shortly afterwards became known as Boston Town. They won the UCL Premier in 1994-95 and 2000-01.
The Poachers club website is here, and they have a Twitter feed here. Their home colours are blue shirts and shorts, and they are managed by Nathan Collins. This season they have occupied the lower reaches of the table in the UCL Premier, but have had a significant improvement in fortunes since Nathan Collins took over, including the victory over the Diamonds in December. Amongst his recent signings is ex-R&DFC striker Daryl Clare. The Poachers also have ex-R&DFC player Lawrence Lambley on their books, who has been playing at full-back for them.
