AFC Rushden & Diamonds v Brackley Town

AFC Rushden & Diamonds return to action at the Dog & Duck at the weekend when they host Conference North side Brackley Town, a team managed by well-known ex-R&DFC player Jon Brady.

Admission prices for the Diamonds pre-season friendlies at the Dog & Duck are £4 adults and £2 Concessions.

Both Diamonds and Wellingborough Town volunteers have been working on various improvements to the Dog & Duck over the close season – for details see here.

Our Opponents

Brackley Town play in the Conference North, and narrowly missed out promotion last season when they lost out to AFC Halifax Town in the playoff final.

The club was founded towards the end of the 19th Century, and won the Southern League Premier in 2011-12 season, five years after reaching that level. As well as manager Jon Brady there are a number of ex-RDFC players at the club, including Billy Turley, Brett Solkhon, Marvin Robinson, Owen Story and Gary Mulligan – with Darren Collins as the assistant manager, although Michael Corcoran and Jefferson Louis have moved on. One other face that is well known to those Diamonds fans who saw R&DFC face the Saints in friendlies and Hillier Cup games is Tom Winters, but he has recently taken up an offer from Oxford City.

There are also several players who faced R&DFC during their Conference days, including Charlie Griffin (Salisbury City etc), Eddie Odihambo (Oxford Utd etc) and Curtis McDonald (Forest Green)

The Saints club website is here, and their Twitter feed here. They play in Red and White.
