ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division
Saturday 25th April 2015
AFC Rushden & Diamonds v Cogenhoe United
AFC Rushden & Diamonds will host Cogenhoe United on Saturday at the Dog & Duck for their final league game of the 2014-15 season in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division.
Although the Diamonds were presented with the UCL Premier Trophy last weekend, they will also be celebrating with the trophy in front of their fans after this game – details here.
Please note that there a currently roadworks in London Road with temporary traffic lights and restricted parking on London Road itself – and also that this work has changed location since the previous home game, moving to straddle the main junction connecting the Castlefields Retail park and the Premier Inn hotel to London Road. Those approaching from the A45 or Little Irchester direction may want to consider the Embankment Public Car Park as detailed here.
The two sides met at the Compton Park earlier in the season with the game ending 1-1 courtesy of an equaliser from Elliott Lamb-Johnson – report here. The Cooks will be looking for three points which will take them to at least fifth position in the league table – and possibly into fourth – following their victory over Wisbech Town last weekend.
Both teams have a 100% record in April, so their respective managers are in contention to win the final UCL Premier Manager of the Month award of the season, and the Diamonds also have the 100 point target in their sights – they currently have 98. They also have an 18 game unbeaten run to protect, stretching back to their defeat at Oadby, as well as their unbeaten home league record for the season.

Our Opponents
In its current guise Cogenhoe United FC was formed in 1967, and initially played in the Central Northants Football Combination before joining the UCL in 1985 as they moved into their Compton Park home. They were promoted to the UCL Premier in 1987, where they have remained ever since. The won the UCL Premier in the 2004-05 season, with ex-RDFC striker Darren Collins scoring 50 goals that campaign, and he went on to become their manager in 2007.
They are nicknamed the Cooks, and their club website is here and their Twitter feed here. They play in blue shirts and shorts and are managed by Andy Marks. This season has seen them maintain a position in the top half of the league table, and they will finish in the top six, possibly as high as fourth with a win in this game.
Ex-Diamonds Danny Harmon and Josh Thomson have joined Alfie Taylor in the Cooks’ squad. Both Nat Liburd and Lance Allen were at Compton Park earlier this season but both have now moved on.
