Our Opponents
Desborough Town have the rather unusual nickname of “Ar Tarn”, which is believed to have been adopted from the local pronunciation of “Our Town”. The club was founded in 1896 and joined the Northants League, which was later to be renamed as the United Counties League – and they have remained in the same competition for over a century. They have won the league title nine times, a record beaten only by Rushden Town.
A fire at Braybrooke Rd in December 2008 destroyed their clubhouse, with a replacement opening in February 2011.
They play in all blue and their website is here, but their twitter feed appears to no longer work. They are managed by Ian Walker who has taken them to a mid-table position with wins over Long Buckby, Oadby, Boston Town and Eynesbury Rovers.
Diamonds player Brad Harris joined the club after a spell at Braybrooke Road.
The two sides met at the Dog and Duck in the middle of March last season, with the visitors running out 2-1 winners courtesy of a brace from Michael Byrne – report here.
