AFC Rushden & Diamonds will play their first ever game cup game in an FA Competition on Saturday, when Fakenham Town are the visitors to the Dog and Duck in the second qualifying round of the FA Carlsberg Vase, kick-off 3pm.

After what seems a very long wait, the Diamonds will also be playing only their second ever home game at the Dog and Duck, with the first game having been four weeks earlier, back on August 18th.

This is an all-pay game. Pricing for this game has been confirmed as £5 Adults, £2.50 Concessions (Over 60s, students, U16s) and £1 U8s. Should the game finish level after 90 minutes there will be 30 minutes of extra time, if the scores are still level there will be a replay at Fakenham Town on Tuesday 18th September.

N.B. As this is a game in an FA competition, the FA rules regarding alcohol must be observed, meaning that no alcohol can be consumed outside of the clubhouse – please help us by observing this rule. See here for more details.

If the Diamonds progress to the next round of the FA Carlsberg Vase, the next tie will be in the First Round Proper which is due to be played on the weekend of the 13th October, and will be away against either Bugbrooke St Michaels or Yaxley.

Our Opponents

Fakenham Town is a team from the town in Norfolk midway between Kings Lynn and Cromer. They play in the Eastern Counties Division 1, which is a league at the same level as the UCL Division 1. They were formed in 1884, and were founder members of the Eastern Counties League Division 1, from where they were promoted to the Premier Division for a 12 year stay before returning to Division 1 in 2004.

The Ghosts play in amber and black, and are managed by Wayne Anderson and Neil Jarvis.

In the first qualifying round they defeated Cambridge Regional College 1-0 in Cambridge.
