AFC Rushden & Diamonds v Holbeach United

AFC Rushden & Diamonds will continue their run of home league games by hosting Holbeach United on Saturday at the Dog & Duck in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division. With the Diamonds having gone top of the league on Tuesday evening this will be a clash of the top two teams in the UCL Premier – but both sides will be aware that Huntingdon Town continue to be the only team with an unbeaten record in that league.

Admission prices are detailed here. Match Status information is here.  Please note that there are some access restrictions at the Dog & Duck because of the initial stages of a new development next door to the ground – details here.

Our Opponents

Holbeach United FC was formed in 1929, and played in local leagues before joining the UCL after the war. They spent a short period in the Eastern Counties League in the late 1950’s, and a single season in the Midland League before rejoining the UCL in 1962. They have remained in the UCL since, and won the UCL Premier Division title in the 2012-13 season, but after they did not apply for promotion the majority of their playing staff left to join other clubs, notably Spalding United and Deeping Rangers. There was a flow of players in the opposite direction after Spalding gained promotion at the end of last season.

They are nicknamed the Tigers, and their club website is here and their Twitter feed here. They play in amber shirts and black shorts. They are joint-managed by Graham Drury and John Chand. Their most recent game saw them suffer their second defeat of the season at home to Peterborough Northern Star.
