AFC Rushden & Diamonds v Huntingdon Town

AFC Rushden & Diamonds sequence of cup games continues on Tuesday evening as attention switches to the UCL Knock-Out Cup. Huntingdon Town are the visitors to the Dog & Duck (KO 7:45pm).

Should the tie be level after 90 minutes then extra time will be played, with a penalty shootout if the scores are still level after 120 minutes. The winner of the tie will travel to face either Wisbech Town, Northampton ON Chenecks or Eynesbury Rovers (Wisbech host Chenecks on 4th October, with the winners of that time hosting Eynesbury – see here for the full draw details).

Joe Merrill begins his three match suspension on 24/9, so will be unavailable for the game, with manager Mark Starmer announcing on Saturday that this game will be a chance to play for those in his first team squad who have not been getting regular action.

This is an all-pay game. Pricing for this game has been confirmed as £6 Adults, £3 Concessions (Over 60s, students, U16s) and £1 U8s.

Our Opponents

Huntingdon Town FC was formed in 1995, and after a period in Cambridgeshire Leagues they joined the UCL in 2003. They were promoted to the UCL Premier in 2012, and finished in an impressive fourth place in their first season in the Premier. They are nicknamed the Croms based on the fact that Oliver Cromwell was born in the town in 1599.

The Croms club website is here and their Twitter feed here. They play in red shirts and shorts. They are managed by Ricky Marheineke. The two teams met at Jubilee Park at the end of August in the Diamonds most recent league game, with the Croms sealing a 1-0 victory – report here.
