After the two weather-affected false starts at staging their first home fixture, AFC Rushden & Diamonds will welcome a Peterborough United XI as their first visitors to the Dog and Duck on Friday evening, when the Posh XI travel to Wellingborough for a pre-season friendly.
Entry to this game is at the reduced prices of Adults £3, Concessions £1.50, Under 16 Members FREE, Under 8 FREE (Concessions (with ID) are Over 60′s and Students). Note that season ticket cards are not valid for this game.
Note the kick-off time is at 7:30pm, and before the game there will be the official opening ceremony for Dale’s bar at 7pm – carried out by Dale’s parents – see here for details.
Our Opponents
Peterborough United will need little introduction to AFC Rushden & Diamonds fans who also followed R&DFC, as the two clubs met on a regular basis in pre-season / Maunsell Cup games after the Diamonds dropped out of the Football League, where they played the Posh in both League 2 and Division 2. The exact make-up of the side the Posh are likely to field is not yet known.
The Dog and Duck
During the summer both WTFC and AFC R&D volunteers have been working at the Dog and Duck on various projects – of which Dale’s Bar is one of them – see here for the WTFC review of that work, and here for an update from AFC R&D.
