AFC Rushden & Diamonds v Rothwell Corinthians

Tuesday 26th March 2013 – 7:45pm

ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Division One

Dog and Duck Stadium, London Road, Wellingborough NN8 2DP

AFC Rushden & Diamonds will host Rothwell Corinthians on Tuesday evening at the Dog & Duck in the in the ChromaSport and Trophies United Counties League Division One (KO 7:45). The two teams met early in the season when the Diamonds recorded a 4-2 victory at Sergeants Lawn – report here.

Despite the poor weather at the weekend, the pitch has recovered well, with the help of a dozen or so volunteers who were at the Dog & Duck over the weekend and on Monday, doing groundwork and preparing the pitch for the game. As a result there are no plans for a pitch inspection and we expect the game to be on barring any last minute issues.

As this is a league game, season tickets are valid. For those paying on the gate normal prices apply, so entry to this game is at the standard admission prices of Adults £5, Concessions £2.50, Under 16 Members FREE, Under 8 FREE (Concessions (with ID) are Over 60′s and Students. 8-15 year old non-members will also be admitted at the concession rate. Under 16 members are admitted free to all home matches on production of a valid membership card. Under 8s are admitted free to all home matches.

Details of any issues with respect to the weather / pitch conditions etc will be here or on Twitter (@AFCRD). Those who may not have internet access in the build-up to a game may want to make note of the club contact phone number as detailed here.

Our Opponents

Rothwell Corinthians FC were founded in 1934, and were promoted to the Premier Division of the United Counties league for the 2008-09 season where they stayed for three seasons before dropping back down to Division One at the end of 2010-11.

The Corinths club website is here. They are currently managed by Ben Watts, who took over the reins in December after Matt Clarke had left in October leaving Matt Brown in a caretaker role. They play in Red and Black. After a promising start to the season they have dropped into the bottom 8 in the league. In their squad they have ex-AFC R&D U18 player Danny Bird.

Corinths are one of the UCL1 teams who some AFC Diamonds fans may have seen facing R&DFC in the NFA Hillier Senior Cup, as back in 2008 a crowd of 160 at Nene Park saw a Lee Phillips goal decide the game.
