The game will be at the Dog & Duck in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division, and has a 3pm kick off. The two sides have met four times in the past, with the Diamonds recording two wins in the league games and the Doughboys winning the two cup games. Our Opponents

Wellingborough Town FC were originally formed in 1867, and had a proud history being the sixth oldest in the country, although the current club was launched in 2004, two years after the original club had disbanded.

Phil Neal, of Liverpool and England fame, started his career with the club, and AFC Rushden & Diamonds Manager Andy Peaks played at the Dog & Duck during the 2006/07 season. Ex AFC R&D players who have returned to the Dog & Duck to play for the Doughboys include Alfie Taylor, Jake Newman, Rashid Koriya and Louis Smith. Jason Turner was the top scorer for the Doughboys last season.

Prior to last weekend’s defeat against Sleaford the Doughboys had gone five games unbeaten in the league, after a difficult period in October, moving them towards a mid-table position, so they will be anxious to make amends on Friday with the Sleaford reverse, after being 3-1 ahead, dropping them down to 15th in the League Table.

They are managed by Joe Smythe and Steve Herring, who have rebuilt the team by taking several players from Step 4 football.Their club colours are blue and yellow, and their club website is here and their Twitter feed here.
