AFC Rushden & Diamonds v Yaxley FC

AFC Rushden & Diamonds will return to home league action by hosting Yaxley FC on Saturday at the Dog & Duck in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division. The Diamonds will be looking to avenge their defeat at Leading Drove earlier in the season.

Our Opponents

Yaxley Football Club was formed in 1900 as Yaxley Rovers, and after playing mostly in the Peterborough district leagues they stepped up to the Eastern League in 1988, and after a move to the West Anglian League they won promotion to the United Counties League in 1995, quickly winning promotion to the Premier Division where they have since remained.

The Cuckoos play in blue shirts and shorts, and are managed by Brett Whaley. Further details about the club can be found on their website here. Their Twitter feed is here. Ex-R&DFC striker Andy Furnell plays for the Cuckoos.

Yaxley have started the season well, and inflicted the Diamonds first defeat of the season in their game at Leading Drove – report here.

Last season they finished 6th in the UCL Premier.
