AFC Rushden & Diamonds announce their seventh signing for the forthcoming season with the capture of Alex Deakin.
Alex joins the Diamonds having played over 40 games and scoring 7 goals for Wellingborough Town and Cogenhoe Utd in the UCL premier last season and previously having played at Northampton Spencer.
The 6’2″ 25 year old Centre Back told afcdiamonds.com his thoughts after putting pen to paper.
“I was very eager to join when I heard Mark Starmer and Andy Peaks were involved and I know it is going to be a good set up so it was an easy decision really, I am a hard working solid performer so I am looking forward to bringing clean sheets to the club.
Part of the reason for joining was the opportunity to play in front of a decent sized crowd, last season I was playing in front of 80/90 people so it will be great to play in front of a few hundred.
I can’t wait to get started, I have to have an operation on my nose which will put me out for a month in August, however I will be raring to go after that and am hoping we can go and win the league this season”
Alex joins Aynsley McDonald, Quincy Shorunmu, Alfie Taylor, Ashley Foulger, Ashley Meeks, and Louis Smith as the first team squad starts to take shape.
