All change in the Academy

AFC Rushden & Diamonds is very pleased to announce the appointment of Scott ‘Biffa’ Carlin as our new Head of Academy. Scott will be assisted by Ryan Farmer and they will continue to coach the U14 squad.

Martin Jenkins who has been the Head of Academy has, sadly, had to step down due to work commitments. The Club would like to place on record our grateful thanks to Martin who has worked hard over the last 18 months to build a successful Academy of which we are very proud and we hope to see him again soon. Following his departure, Martin said “I have really enjoyed my time with the Club and I’m disappointed to be leaving so soon, but I wish Biff and everyone involved all the very best for the future.”

The Academy currently has 5 squads from U12 – U16 playing in the Junior Premier League.

Also joining the Club and Academy set up is Howard Willmott who has been appointed as Manager of the Elite Squad. Howard brings with him a wealth of experience in youth coaching and will be looking to get off to a flying start with the Elite Squad. He has also been charged with the organisation of tours and tournaments for the Academy.

The Elite squad will be playing in the Midland League U21 Division.

Speaking to the club, Scott commented “I am delighted to have been given this opportunity. Thanks to Martin, we have an Academy to be proud of and I’m looking forward to working with Ryan and all the coaches to make it even better.”

We extend a warm Diamonds welcome to Howard and wish him, Scott and Ryan the very best of luck in their new roles.
