AFC Rushden & Diamonds Manager Andy Peaks and his new Assistant Paul Lamb gave their thoughts on the preparations for the 2014-15 season when they took part in the launch evening for the new playing strip and the kit sponsors.
The first question from AFCRDTV was addressed to Andy Peaks. Andy was asked if he was looking forward to his first season as AFC Rushden & Diamonds Manager – “Absolutely – I can’t wait to get started now. We’ve signed the three new players, and they are lads that know some of the other players so I think that will help them fit in more easily. I’ve appointed Paul Lamb as assistant manager. I’ve known Paul a long time, and he’s got a lot of experience in the game. He’s an excellent coach, who knows a lot of the players and is a good motivator, so he ticked all the boxes that I was looking for to take the club forwards.”
Paul Lamb was then asked about his introduction to the club. “I first knew Andy in our Northampton Town playing days, and our paths crossed several times during our careers, including at Wealdstone in the Conference South. I’m really looking forward to working at the club, and can’t wait until 29th June when we get all the boys in, and then the build up towards 9th August. I also played with Russ Dunkley early in his career, as well as with Arron Parkinson, and know Adam Confue as well as several of the other players, with Tom Lorraine spending a short spell as Cogenhoe last season.”
Andy was then asked about his thoughts on a number of the other UCL teams making some high profile summer signings – “We’re just worried about what we do. We’ve managed to bring in three great signings, and we’re happy with that. What other teams do is not really down to us. Teams may take points off each other if they are all strong but we’ve got to make sure we are ready to give it our best shot, making sure we are organised, fit and do the right things.”
Andy and Paul then gave their thoughts on the pre-season period, and their approach to the new season – You can view the complete video interview here.
There was also a chance to hear from chairman Ralph Burditt, and this interview is available here. You can also check out the interviews at the launch here, as well as interviews with two of our new players here.
