AFC Rushden & Diamonds are delighted to announce Andy Peaks as the first team Assistant Manager.
Andy is 8th in the all time Rushden & Diamonds appearances list with 205 having played for R&DFC between 1992 and 1997 and holds a UEFA B coaching license.
Speaking exclusively to afcdiamonds.com Andy said “It’s a pleasure to be asked and I had no hesitation in accepting, I have known Mark for a number of years and look forward to working with him on this very exciting chapter for the club. I have been very impressed with everything associated with the club both on and off the field and I can’t wait to get started.”
“Peaksey” will bring a wealth of senior football knowledge to the club, having managed at Long Buckby and Northampton Spencer in the UCL Premier Division since 2007.
On Andy’s appointment, first team manager Mark Starmer said “As soon as I was appointed as First Team Manager I knew in my mind that I wanted Andy to come and work alongside me, he brings with him experience and he is a Diamond man through and through. We are both really looking forward to next season.”
Chairman Ralph Burditt echoed Mark’s sentiments, saying “Andy was clearly a very strong candidate from the outset and there have certainly been rumours for a while linking him with the job. As a club, however, we always do things the right way and the process of appointing an assistant Manager was no different. We advertised the position, received a number of strong applications and then conducted interviews. At the end of this process, Andy came out on top with his mix of senior experience coupled with a passion for youth development and for us this ticked all the right boxes. I am therefore confident that we have got the right man for the job and personally I am delighted with the appointment, as I know everyone around the club is also.”
