Following a poll on AFCDiamonds.com, the winner of the April 2013 Player of the Month award is Sam Brown. By winning the final monthly award of the 2012/13 season, Sam becomes the first Diamonds player to win this award twice. During April he not only continued to impress in the Diamonds’ defence in his left-back role, but also scored his first goal of the season with a spectacular strike again Eynesbury Rovers at the Dog & Duck. He followed this up with a further important goal when he opened the scoring against Wellingborough Whitworth in the Diamonds 4-1 win.
The award is sponsored by P.W. House Jewellers of Rushden, who are continuing a long tradition of sponsoring this award, going back many years with R&DFC. Their business has been part of life in Rushden High Street for the last 60 years.
The award was presented by Diamonds’ Manager Mark Starmer during the end-of-season presentation evening.
