AFC Rushden & Diamonds U18s / Malcolm Arnold Academy are through to the second round of the English College’s Trophy with a 5-2 victory against Blessed George Napier.
Manager Darren Purse took a squad of mainly first year scholars to Banbury, Oxfordshire for the First Round of the English Colleges Trophy.
Purse took the decision to rest some of his older members of the squad with their first league game against Peterborough United just two days away.
And the players who came into the squad did themselves justice. First years, Connor Worrall and Ryan Baird were amongst the goals. As well as second years, Luke Garner and a brace from Joe Ackroyd, who have both recently been involved in the senior side.
The Diamonds will now travel to either Silverstone UTC or Magdalen College School in the second round.
