Burton Park Wanderers v AFC Rushden & Diamonds
Saturday 16th February 2013 – 2:30pm
ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Division One
Latimer Park, Polwell Lane, Burton Latimer NN15 5PS.
AFC Rushden & Diamonds make the short trip to Burton Latimer on Saturday 16th February when they visit Latimer Park to face Burton Park Wanderers in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Division One. Note that this game kicks off 30 minutes earlier than normal, at 2:30pm, to allow for the fact there are no floodlights at Latimer Park.
Earlier in the season the two sides drew 1-1 at the Dog & Duck – report here. Since then the Wanderers have struggled in the league, and are currently 19th, several points adrift of the teams above them, but have this week appointed a new manager – Joe Smyth.
With the Diamonds now having played 18 games they have reached the half-way point in the season in that respect, so will be looking to start the second half of the campaign in a positive manner.
Details of any issues with respect to the weather / pitch conditions etc will be here or on Twitter (@AFCRD).
Our Opponents
Burton Park Wanderers are based in Burton Latimer, near Kettering, having originally been formed as Kettering Park Wanderers in 1961, joining the UCL in 1968 and moving to Burton Latimer three years later.
When Park Wanderers visited the Dog and Duck in October they were managed by ex-R&DFC goalkeeper Kevin Fox, but he has been replaced by Joe Smyth at the helm at Latimer Park in the past week, with this being his first game in charge. Last season Diamonds’ Jack Wizniewski played at Latimer Park.
The Wanderers play in blue and black stripes and do not appear to have a current website.
