Chairmen’s Update – September 2022

Fans Support

Nobody can deny that the Southern League season hasn’t started as intended. For fans that have watched the games, listened on Radio Diamonds or followed on Twitter it’s clear that the league doesn’t reflect where we are as a team and a club. The hard work that Andy and his team have put in will come through. As a fan owned club, we find ourselves in the unusual position of a difficult start but the positive support of the fans has been really encouraging.

Gate Pricing

We are trialling this season a different structure to gate prices. In these difficult cost of living times, we have held gate prices for Adults and Concessions (over 60’s) in addition to reducing prices for under 21’s (£6) and under 16’s (£2). Attendances across non-league football are lower this season but combined with work to engage schools and the community we are looking to make a family day out watching Diamonds an affordable and enjoyable experience.

Match Specials

At the next home game (Bromsgrove 10th September) we have invited the Women’s & Girls part of the Club as guests to help to recognise and promote what is a hugely important area for us. With Diamonds having been part of Leah Williamson’s Lionesses journey we are proud to support the growth in the ladies game.

We have previously held several community days and are looking to do so again in the coming weeks.

New Volunteers

Having recently put a request out for volunteer roles the response has been excellent and it’s wonderful to see new faces helping across the Club. A huge thank you to those as well as the longer serving volunteers. There is much more we would like to do as a club so if you can give a little time please follow up on this article here.

New Home

Work continues the New Home project having recently received an updated set of Heads of Terms following the Northamptonshire Football Association’s decision not to proceed with their nearby site which should give us the green light on this project. Meanwhile we are concluding our new lease at Hayden Road which will give us security of a site with the option to move to the New Home.

FA Cup

It’s that time of year again! We look forward to the weekend where we head to yet another away trip in the FA Cup as we take on Enfield FC. For those coming along we love your support, just don’t get caught out by the 1:00 pm Sunday kick-off in Bishop’s Stortford!! If you can’t make it there will be commentary on Radio Diamonds here and regular updates on Twitter.

Thanks for your support

Matt & Chris
