Charlie Seaman

Diamonds fans in attendance yesterday for our home match against Worcester City witnessed a little piece of Club history, as at 16 years and 16 days Charlie Seaman became AFC Rushden & Diamonds’ youngest ever player. The previous record was held by Alex Barker who was 16 years and 31 days old when he appeared against Peterborough Utd U23’s in the Hillier Senior Cup last season.

Charlie was born the day before Diamonds drew 1-1 away at Salisbury City in March 2009, Rob Wolleaston the scorer that day.

The record across both AFC R&D and RDFC is still intact, held by Aynsley McDonald at 15 years and 361 days.

Charlie became the fifth 16-year-old to feature in our first team this season alone, following in the footsteps of Ewan Evans, Milad Ehsani, Vadim Naimusin and Sheku Koroma.

It’s fantastic that our Academy is regularly represented in our first team squad this season and even better, the lads are being given opportunities.

Congratulations to all involved in our Academy for the great work being done. 💎 👏
