Club Statement

During Saturday’s fixture against Wisbech Town, AFC R&D Stewards and an attending PCSO became aware of a supporter using language of a racist nature. The supporter was immediately ejected from the ground and the club have subsequently conducted a swift, yet thorough investigation into the incident including liaising closely with Northamptonshire Police. As a result of this investigation, the supporter has been banned for a period of 3 years from all AFC Rushden & Diamonds home matches. In addition the club will be sharing, with the help of Northamptonshire Police and other local Police forces, details of the supporter in question with all opponents prior to away fixtures.

As members of a community club, all at AFC R&D feel that there is absolutely no place for racism in football, or in modern society. We will continue to work closely with Northamptonshire Police and all other relevant bodies to ensure that AFC Rushden & Diamonds fixtures are enjoyed by all who attend them. Over the coming days, representatives of the club plan to hold discussions with Kick it Out to find the best ways in which AFC R&D can actively renew its support for the campaign.

In a separate, unrelated incident, another supporter was also ejected from the ground at Saturday’s game. The club is unable to comment further on this currently.
