Club Welfare Officer (CWO) Vacancy

The Board of AFC Rushden & Diamonds are welcoming applicants to fulfil a vacancy as Club Welfare Officer (CWO) on a voluntary basis.

Serving as an official officer of the Club, the CWO will have exposure to discussion on all Club issues with input and suggestions welcomed, although would not hold voting rights. Working closely with the Club Secretaries, Academy Director and Club Chair, as well as other key figures around the Club, the CWO will be responsible for overseeing the application of AFC Rushden & Diamonds values of Inclusivity, Wellbeing and Safeguarding from the Boardroom, through the First Team and throughout the Academy. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with people of all ages and abilities and enjoy resolving challenges.

The CWO is there to support the safeguarding of children, as well as the inclusion of all, including those most vulnerable, in our community, ensuring football is fair and enjoyable for all. Given the importance of the role, the CWO will operate outside of, and independent to, any Club hierarchy, ensuring that the culture and values of the Club hold the highest authority.

Whilst the majority of this role can be completed remotely, the availability to attend training sessions in Northampton, occasional face to face meetings, and a minimum of one Board meeting per quarter, would be conducive to the overall success of the role.

Duties will include visiting training sessions and matches, carrying out Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks for voluntary staff and working alongside The Football Association (The FA) to focus on best practice for grassroots football. No previous experience required, just a willingness to help our football club become a safe and happy place, where all those within our community can enjoy the sport they love!
