FUNDRAISERS ARE LAUGHING AS TOP COMICS COME TO TOWN
Four top UK comics are coming to Rushden as part of a fundraising drive for young footballers in the area.
A comedy night is being held at the Pemberton Centre in Rushden on Sunday 13th July for the AFC Rushden & Diamonds Community Section, which has over two hundred young players in East Northamptonshire.
Fundraisers have to raise thousands of pounds each year and as part of these efforts, some of the funniest acts from the Edinburgh Festival have agreed to hold a warm up gig to raise funds for the Young Diamonds.
Patrick Monahan (ITV’s Show me the funny / Splash), Alfie Moore (Top rated Edinburgh Festival act 2013 / ITV’s Show me the funny), Christian Reilly (Perrier Award Winner) and Steve Day (UK’s only deaf comedian) have all confirmed their attendance for the gig, and organisers hope to sell all 300 tickets.
Mark Cullen from AFC Diamonds said that he hoped the event would raise £1,000 for the club.
“Fundraising is an important part of what we do to enable young players to train and compete every week whilst developing their skills, and the opportunity to host a comedy night with the calibre of comics on the bill is exciting and will hopefully be well supported by the local community.”
“We’re currently refurbishing a dressing room facility in Finedon, and these funds will be well received at an important time for the club as we continue to develop and improve what we can offer to young player and families in the local community.”
Tickets for the AFC Diamonds Community Fundraiser are on sale from the Pemberton Centre in Rushden and via the box office – 01933 350324.
Doors open 7pm. Event starts 7:30pm. Tickets £15
