The Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round

Saturday 26th September 2015

Deeping Rangers v AFC Rushden & Diamonds

AFC Rushden & Diamonds will face Deeping Rangers in The Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round on Saturday. Although the Diamonds have a good record at Outgang Road, they will be aware of the perils of the FA Cup, having seen their hosts knock out a Step 4 team in the previous round.

Admission prices have been advised to be £6 adults, £4 concessions and £1 children. If the scores are level after 90 minutes the game will be replayed at the Dog & Duck on Tuesday 29th September (KO 7:45pm).

The winners of the tie will play in the Third Qualifying Round of the competition on 10th October. Details of round dates and prize money are in the weekly competition bulletin here along with details of the other ties in the competition.

There is a Diamonds Match Diary here, and the club twitter feed will provide the latest information before, during and after the match using the link or by following @AFCRD.

Our Opponents

Deeping Rangers FC was founded in 1966, starting in the Peterborough & District Leagues. They joined the UCL in 1999, narrowly missing promotion from Division One in their first season, but they then won the league the following season, and have remained in the Premier Division for the past 14 seasons. They won the UCL Premier in 2006-07 – see here for more details of their history. They have seen a recent change of manager with Tuncay Korkmaz stepping down to be replaced by Michael Goode.

They have made a solid start to their campaign in the UCL Premier, and have recorded victories in the Emirates FA Cup over Boston Town, Dereham Town and then a memorable 4-2 victory over Leek Town in a First Qualifying Round Replay.

Outgang Road was the venue for the Diamonds first game at Step 5 level, and they recorded a 3-2 victory – report here, and they followed this with a 2-1 win last season courtesy of two Liam Dolman goals from corner routines – report here.

The Rangers club website is here and their twitter feed here. They play in Claret and Blue.
