Please monitor AFC Rushden & Diamonds Twitter feed (@AFCRD) if the weather conditions suggests the fixture may be in any doubt.
Our Opponents
Desborough Town have the rather unusual nickname of “Ar Tarn”, which is believed to have been adopted from the local pronunciation of “Our Town”. The club was founded in 1896 and joined the Northants League, which was later to be renamed as the United Counties League – and they have remained in the same competition for over a century. They have won the league title nine times, a record beaten only by Rushden Town.
A fire at Braybrooke Rd in December 2008 destroyed their clubhouse, with a replacement opening in February 2011.
They are managed by Ian Walker and they play in all blue. Their website is here, but their twitter feed appears to no longer work. They have had a mixed season to date, with some notable wins followed by heavy defeats. The two sides met in mid-October at the Dog & Duck with the Diamonds recording a 5-0 victory – report here. The game at Braybrooke Rd last season saw the Diamonds record a 2-0 victory on a cold wet evening – report here.
