Diamonds Announce Double Signing!

AFC Rushden & Diamonds are delighted to announce the signings of strikers Mason Thomas and James Harrison.

Mason Thomas had been without a youth club this season, but has recently been playing for Irchester United in the UCL Premier Division which is where he first caught the attentions of AFC R&D Technical Director Steve Whitney. Thomas was invited to the trial game against Stamford last Monday, scoring the only goal of the game and impressing enough to be signed on before the NSYL game against Cogenhoe United on Thursday. Supporters at that game will no doubt have been impressed with his 20 minute appearance at the end of the match where the Diamonds were unlucky not to get an equaliser against the league leaders.

James Harrison joins the club from Rushden & Higham United, for whom he has played in both the Northants Senior Youth League and the UCL First Division this season. Harrison is also a member of the talented Corby Town youth team who are currently battling it out at the business end of the Football Conference Youth Alliance – Central Division, and also making waves in this season’s FA Youth Cup (this is a separate team that that which plays in the the Eastern Division of the NSYL).

Both players will go straight into the squad for this Thursday’s friendly against FootballCV Reds, detailed HERE, and will be eligible for the following week’s NSYL game against AFC Kempston Rovers.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome both players to AFC Rushden & Diamonds, and to wish them the best of luck throughout their careers with the club.
