Diamonds Board Member Tackles The London Marathon

AFC Rushden & Diamonds Treasurer Matt Ward is in training to tackle the London Marathon next weekend (24th April). Matt is to run the 26 miles around the streets of the capital in order to raise money for the NACC, the Crohn & Colitis Association – details here.

Matt was diagnosed with Crohns disease in 2009 and has been living with the condition and its implications since then. Despite the treatment required, Matt has been able to face other challenges such as raising a family, qualifying as an accountant and volunteering with AFC R&D, joining the board as Club Treasurer.

He recently  ran 20 miles from his home to watch the Diamonds v Uxbridge game, part of his training for the big event next weekend.

Matt is asking people to donate generously, recognising he’s been so much luckier than most with this condition for which there isn’t a cure, leaving those affected to manage the symptoms as best they can.

You can see more of Matt’s story and sponsor him via his “JustGiving” page here.
