AFC Rushden & Diamonds visited 10 Downing Street on Monday 19th January as guests of the Prime Minister.
Chairman Ralph Burditt and Vice Chairman Jon Ward were nominated to attend on behalf of the club by parliamentary candidate Tom Pursglove for the Community Champions reception.
During their trip to London, Ralph and Jon also took the opportunity to have a meeting with Peter Bone MP and Tom Pursglove to discuss in detail the current situation surrounding the search for a long term home for the club.
Following on from this, AFC R&D will be sending a letter to Number 10 as well as corresponding further with Peter and Tom as the club continues to look for a permanent place to host the home matches of its 34 teams.
Chairman Ralph Burditt told afcdiamonds.com “ It was a very successful trip and I was delighted to be able to meet with the Prime Minister and to tell him all about some of the wonderful work which is done by volunteers here at the club. I also came away from the meeting with Peter and Tom feeling very positive. Both seem genuinely interested in the problem of finding AFC R&D a permanent place to play and have said that they will do what they can to help.”
Peter Bone and Tom Pursglove have further showed their support by signing up as member owners of the club.
