Diamonds U21 Side Move to New UCL U21 League

AFC Rushden & Diamonds are pleased to announce that their Under-21 side has joined the new Under-21 League that has been formed by the United Counties League.

The move was ratified by the UCL at their recent AGM, and announced in their subsequent Newsletter as follows:-

“Nine clubs will compete in the inaugural season of the league’s under 21 division. The membership incorporates a broad spectrum of clubs from steps 3 to 7, plus clubs from age group and student football.

“Premier Division clubs AFC Kempston Rovers and AFC Rushden & Diamonds plus Peterborough Sports from Division One will run sides in the new division and will be joined by teams from Southern Premier clubs Biggleswade Town and Histon and Southern League Central Division Kettering Town, while Bedfordshire County League and former long standing UCL members Wootton Blue Cross also join. Completing the line up are Milton Keynes College who run a side in the English Colleges League and Football CV Reds who play in the Conference Youth Alliance and Central Conference.

“At the AGM on 18th June clubs in membership of the new division opted to use roll on roll off substitutes.”

More recently the UCL have published details of the initial U21 fixtures here. It is anticipated there will be a number of cup competitions to increase the number of fixtures played.
