Elliott Lamb-Johnson signs for AFC R&D

AFC Rushden and Diamonds Manager Andy Peaks has continued his preparations for the new season with the addition of Elliott Lamb-Johnson to his squad.

Elliott is a highly-rated 18 year old and joins from fellow UCL Premier Divison club Cogenhoe United, having impressed against the Diamonds last season in both the 4-2 victory over Cogenhoe at the Dog & Duck in November and the return 0-0 draw at Compton Park in February.

The former Northampton Town scholar is an exciting winger who can play on either flank and has attracted interest from a number of clubs since signing for “The Cooks” last September, following a brief spell at Corby Town. He went on to make 28 appearances for Cogenhoe in the UCL, scoring 5 goals and scooping the “Young Player of the Year” prize at the end of season awards.

Peaks, in an interview with afcdiamonds.com, said of his signing: “We are delighted to get Elliott’s signature and the fact that he has chosen us over a host of clubs bodes well for the future. Elliott is two footed and brings pace to the side which also gives us the option of playing him down the middle. Diamonds fans I’m sure will be thrilled by the prospect of seeing this exciting young talent next season”

Lamb-Johnson becomes the second new face to join AFC R&D this summer after club announced the signing of former Wellingborough Town hitman Jason Turner along with a list of retained players on Wednesday.
