Diamonds have worked really well to arrange a very competitive preparation game against Kempston Rovers this weekend after the re-start of the Southern League season was delayed by a group vote this week.
The FA Trophy match up against Peterborough Sports goes ahead on Tuesday evening though and we are grateful to our friends Kempston Rovers for agreeing to this excellent match-up in place of the scheduled league game against Kings Langley.

Kempston Rovers
Kempston have been good friends for some time and the sides have matched up in league and cup action over the years as well as friendlies. Currently at Step 4 in Southern League Central the Walnut Boys have had a mixed start to their season sitting in 17th with 6 points have been earned from 8 games. That includes a win against Wantage Town and draws against Yaxley, Welling Garden City and Kidlington. Last time out at promotion hopefuls Daventry Town all results were in play until the final moments with Kempston equalising on 82 minutes and looking like the team who would win it but Daventry popped up with an injury time winner to condemn lively Kempston to a 4th defeat.
Former Diamond Chief Boateng started the game. The striker played 10 times for Diamonds in the 2017/2018 season. Kempston certainly do score goals hitting 3 twice but conceding a tad too many is clearly the issue with 18 in their 8 games.
Diamonds Season Reminder
Diamonds have played 8 league games this season with 2 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats. The wins include that 7-1 home win against Hitchin Town in which Chris Wreh scored 4 before half-time and the 2-1 home win against Hednesford. The defeats have come away from home in the last 2 away games unluckily 1-0 at Bromsgrove Sporting and fairly comprehensively 4-1 at a very good Coalville.
Battling draws at Nuneaton on the opening day and at Leiston plus a home draw with Barwell that could easily have been 3 points give the feel that Diamonds have every chance of pushing up from 13th once the season re-starts.
