AFC Rushden & Diamonds Ladies are holding a Girls Community Football Day at the Dog and Duck on Sunday 21st July, in association with our partners Just a Ball Game?
Entry is free and the day will run from 10.00 am until 2.00 pm.
It will be a day with the emphasis on enjoyment and participation and will include coaching sessions, crossbar challenge and a penalty shootout. There will also be a chance to meet the Ladies team and find out what opportunities there are for girls wanting to play football within the AFC Rushden & Diamonds family.
Head of Community Football David Cockings explained:
“As part as our Football for All policy we are looking to increase girls participation in football. Our research tells that that although girls are able to play in mixed teams up to Under 15, and do so successfully, that many more would prefer to play as part of a girls team and we need to offer that opportunity.
“The success of our Ladies team shows just what can be achieved and we think that by running the teams closer together we will be able to offer a path through to open age football.
“With the Women’s Euro’s underway and interest in the women’s game at an all-time high we feel it’s a good time to offer this and give girls who want to play football and opportunity to do so.”
Everyone is invited to come along on the day and if you need further information then email david.cockings@southrushdenjfc.org.uk or call 07741 483 062.
