It’s the Northern Premier League First Division South for AFCRD

Following a meeting at the FA on May 12 the FA League Committee defined the League Constitutions for Non-League Steps 1-4 . AFC Rushden & Diamonds have been placed into the Evo Stik Northern Premier League First Division South at step 4 for the 2016/17 season. A subsequent revision has seen Stamford remain at Step 3, being replaced in NPL1S by Evesham United – but this is subject to appeal.

The sideways move provides a number of new teams and grounds to visit with a couple of names familiar to Diamonds fans such as Basford Utd who have faced the Diamonds in both the FA Trophy and FA Vase, and our old UCL foes Spalding Utd. The Evo Stik Northern Premier League website can be found here

The league constitutions have been ratified at the Annual General Meeting of the Northern Premier League, held on 18th June. The AFC R&D website has been updated to include further details of the league, including a directory of the other teams in the league. Please note also that player movements over the close season are closely linked to a contract window which opens on July 1st, so initial details of player movements at the club will be released shortly after that date, followed by updates to the squad details on this website.
