The Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round

Saturday 29th August 2015

Kings Langley FC v AFC Rushden & Diamonds

AFC Rushden & Diamonds will face Kings Langley in The Emirates FA Cup Preliminary Round on Saturday.

Admission prices will be £8 adults / £5 concessions with U16 free.

If the scores are level after 90 minutes the game will be replayed at the Dog & Duck on Bank Holiday Monday 31st August (KO 3pm). That would mean that the league game against Bedford Town due to be played that day would be postponed – and this will also be the case if Bedford Town have an FA Cup Replay.

The winners of the tie will play either Bedfont & Feltham or AFC Hayes in the First Qualifying Round of the competition on 12th September. Details of round dates and prize money are in the weekly competition bulletin here along with details of the other ties in the competition.

There is a Diamonds Match Diary here, and the club twitter feed will provide the latest information before, during and after the match using the link or by following@AFCRD.

Our Opponents

Formed in 1886, Kings Langley Football Club is one of the oldest clubs in Hertfordshire. They moved into Gaywood Park in 1997, and were then able to move from local leagues to the Spartan South Midlands league in 2001. They gained promotion to the Southern Football League last season by winning the Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division at their first attempt, having gained promotion from Division One the previous season. They won the league by 10 points, scoring 127 league goals in the process. They have had a bright start to life at Step 4, drawing their first game at home to St Ives, and winning their other home game against Egham Town.

They are known as the Kings and are managed by ex R&DFC player Richie Hanlon and Paul Hughes. Their website is here, and their Twitter feed here. They play in white and black, and the Diamonds will wear their yellow away strip for this game. They have had a mixed start to life at Step 4, but their two defeats have been against two of the league’s strongest sides – Beaconsfield SYCOB and Royston Town, and they have recorded a win over Chalfont St Peter and a draw with St Ives, both of whom are also well-regarded as strong challengers in the league.

This will be the first time that the Diamonds have faced a team from the same league in the FA Cup.
