Lee Glover appointed Assistant Manager

AFC Rushden & Diamonds are pleased to announce that Andy Burgess has confirmed his backroom staff over the weekend.

We are delighted to welcome Lee Glover, who has been appointed Assistant Manager until the end of the season, to the Club. Based in Corby, Lee started his professional playing career coming through the youth ranks at Nottingham Forest, where he also played professionally with the likes of Stuart Pearce and Roy Keane under the management of Brian Clough.

Lee went on to continue his playing career with the likes of Port Vale, Rotherham United and Macclesfield Town.

Since retiring, he has coached at a number of clubs and held the senior development coach position at Derby County. He has also been Assistant Manager at Peterborough United and more recently Mansfield Town under John Dempster. He also holds a UEFA Pro Licence.

Everyone at AFC Rushden & Diamonds would like to extend a warm welcome to Lee and we look forward to working with him.

Scott Carlin (coach), Nathan Gaunt (goalkeeping coach) and Roisin O’Farrell (sports therapist) will complete Andy’s team.

Andy Burgess commented “I am over-the-moon that Lee has agreed to join us until the end of the season and will work alongside me as my assistant manager. He has been out of the professional game over the period of the pandemic to concentrate on his business, and is keen to return to it next season, so to be able to utilise his vast experience, contacts, knowledge and coaching qualities will be brilliant for the next few months. The fact he holds a Pro license shows what calibre of coach he is and I am sure he will have a big impact on players and staff.

I am also delighted I have been able to retain the services of Scott, Nathan and Roisin in their roles within the management set-up; it is clear already how much they are all held in high-regard by the players and their knowledge of the club and players has, and will continue to be, massively important.

It was important to me that I got my management team sorted and settled as quickly as possible and I am delighted I have been able to do it ahead of our fixture at Biggleswade Town tomorrow night”.
